What we do now matters – for our children, and their children

In 2014, Ontario Power Generation (OPG) made Ontario a world leader in the fight against climate change when we closed the last of our coal-fired generating stations. It was the equivalent of removing seven million cars from the road – forever. It stands as one of the world's single-largest climate change actions ever taken. Every time you turn on the lights or plug in an appliance, you can be proud of the fact that your electricity is coming almost entirely from clean sources.

And we’re just getting started.

Since then, we’ve taken aggressive action and gone even further, putting in place a plan to increase Ontario’s supply of clean electricity that will allow our province to electrify more aspects of everyday life, from transportation to home heating to heavy industry.

As a company, OPG is driving toward net-zero carbon by 2040 so we can act as a catalyst for a net-zero carbon economy by 2050.
